Angie’s Adventures in (You Can’t Make This Stuff Up)2

This is my story of laughing at the adventures or pain points as I travel through life. Now some people might take this as sad, sadistic and sometimes painful, but I have decided to laugh at my frustrations and pain points. Basically, I am tired of crying, so I laugh. It’s therapeutic and a little off the bean. So, I have come to the conclusion that something is wrong with my village… so then I am beginning to wonder what is wrong with me?

Again, this is supposed to be funny at least to me that sometimes my life is just ridiculous. And I apologize in advance for anyone offended. Again, my strange thinking.

Well, say hello to Angie’s wacky world, so if I didn’t mention it before, it’s Wednesday. I received an email from the electric company that they were shutting off the power to my area on Thursday for maintenance; they said it would last about five hours. So, In Angie’s mind I thought they were talking about during the day starting at 11:30 am. So, on the ride home I think they should be done. As I am headed home car light that says it’s time to change your oil comes on and no, I still haven’t gotten gas for the car or as I call it hocking a body part just to fill the tank.

I get home and everything is fine also in case I didn’t mention it the rain and thunderstorms started again. Quiet evening off to bed early. I need to rest up for the next adventure. Also, I made an appointment for next day to change the oil after work.

So, at about 2 am I wake up sweating. Yes, I am in the season of life where I have personal summers, ok hot flashes but that is not the case. I look around and everything is quiet and dark, no lights or noise anywhere. Yes, the power is out so I get up and find my prepper flashlights and power charging packs because of course I forgot to charge my phone. I go back to sleep and wake up again still sweating at 4 am, still no power bump around in the dark and take a shower get out to humidity.

So, at this point I am not doing this today. I call in and say I am not coming in and go back to bed that lasts for an hour before I am up again sitting by the window recharging one of my charging packs and re-evaluating my prepper list. I can plug in the fan which cools off my bedroom with the room darkening drapes which really help me so, back to sleep and I hear something that wakes me up it 945 am and yes, the power is back on.

Finally, I read my email, and the power company let me know that the power was out due to emergency maintenance. I guess they mean 1130 pm until they fixed it. Oh, the power is on is the email. Really thanks for letting me know.

So, after not sleeping well I take another shower and fix most of the clocks. I turned on my computer and decided not to pay the light bill until the exact date because they annoyed me. Yes, I am being petty but that is the fun in Angie’s mind I also reschedule my oil change because I just don’t want to go out there today. I want to say I’m in this frame of mind, and I will use one of the old sayings I have been using: Gwone now Lemme lone.  In the real world I am saying go away world I need a break so leave me alone.

I case I forgot to say this Angie is an introvert. I enjoy the peace and quiet. I can turn off everything and enjoy the nothingness. I spend that time alone to pray and calm my mind from Angie’s world of you can’t make this stuff up. And when I calm my mind, I realize how fortunate I am that I have the money to pay the light bill. I remember sleeping in my car outside of a public library in the parking lot not knowing where my next meal or place to sleep will be. I remember that in all my complaining and laughter. I am blessed to have a job and that those tough times didn’t destroy me.

Which is why I can laugh and remember that laughter is medicine for the soul.

So today I relax except here is Angie’s next frustration. Why do these people keep calling me? Now remember I am former homeless, jobless person but that was over ten years ago. I paid everyone so it is not bill collectors. I understand going through those times. As I told the collectors I would be happy to pay you if I had the money so I will be happy to schedule with you but with what? That was a hard journey.

Now Angie’s next frustration is annoying phone calls such as you need a loan, which I don’t or donate to this cause and they are all day long every hour two to three calls. I am in cybersecurity, so yes, I know my information has leaked somewhere. Let me say this as a cybersecurity person It doesn’t matter who you are, your information will be leaked. If you have electricity, they have been hacked. If you have had any medical care, they have been hacked. If you have a credit card or bank account, they have been hacked. If you have a Smart phone or TV they have been hacked also. My point is try to not disclose but don’t be discouraged.

So, I stopped answering the phone. Now today as I am enjoying my quiet ok I am dozing off reading a book and here is one of those calls that wakes me up and makes me want to pick up the phone and yell Gwone now lemme lone.

It is finally FRIDAY. I am not scheduled to work this weekend, and the construction is scheduled to be done this week, and Monday is supposed to be back to normal. Ha! Yes, I am being cynical, but in the past, it has proven to be correct. Now, I had the day off; I am rested and ready for battle or the newest fun. This morning’s drive of over the river and through the woods avoiding construction has added another twist on the roads closed on the detour. I am no longer shocked at this because it has been going on for a while.

I took my time and Angie is nosy again looks at the scenery at 430 am. It’s dark but remembering how fortunate I am I just avoid the homeless person walking across the street in all black and the one sitting in the wheelchair not on the curb or sidewalk but in the lane of traffic that I am driving in. Is it dangerous yes but I don’t know their circumstances or even the guy staggering across the street. I am not making excuses, but I have been homeless and I did not drink or participate in substance abuse. I lost my job and I have no family so…..

Now back to work and it is wonderful. We are allowed a flexible work schedule basically we have 80 hours and two weeks to get the time in such as four days working 10 hours giving you two days off or some do nine hour days with every other Friday or Monday off. Most people pick Friday off. I pick Monday sometimes but if I miss a day during the week before I can work five days at 10 hours. This is thankfully Friday and a lot of people are not in.

I like Friday’s I get a lot of work done without distractions of a lot of meetings. As for the water situation I am still not drinking that stuff and I brought a bottle of water. After work I have to get gas for my car…. You won’t believe what hap

See you next time!

Let me know. How was your week?

Angie
